Vladimir Putin invitó el viernes 14 de marzo a su aliado venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, a asistir al desfile militar anual del Día de la Victoria de Rusia, el próximo 9 de mayo, en conmemoración del 80 aniversario de la victoria soviética sobre la Alemania nazi en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y a firmar en esa ocasión una alianza estratégica.
"Me alegraría verlo en Moscú en las celebraciones con motivo del 9 de mayo", dijo Putin durante una videollamada con Maduro. Agregó que Rusia y Venezuela podrían firmar un tratado de asociación estratégica durante la visita de Maduro, y dijo que esta había sido "totalmente acordada", reportó el medio independiente The Moscow Times.
Al menos 11 líderes extranjeros, entre ellos el presidente chino, Xi Jinping, y el primer ministro indio, Narendra Modi, habrían aceptado hasta ahora la invitación de Putin para asistir al desfile militar de la Plaza Roja. Corea del Norte también estaría lista para enviar tropas para participar en el evento por primera vez, según medios japoneses.
También Miguel Díaz-Canel habría sido invitado, según reveló en febrero Dmitry Novikov, vicepresidente del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de la Federación de Rusia, durante una visita a La Habana.
"Rusia y Venezuela tienen unas posiciones afines en diferentes ámbitos de la agenda internacional. Juntos aspiramos a un mundo más justo, un orden mundial más justo, y proponemos los principios de soberanía de los estados, de cooperación, sin injerencia externa en los asuntos internos", dijo Putin, según la interpretación al aire del canal estatal venezolano VTV.
El sábado 15 de marzo, la vicepresidenta ejecutiva del régimen chavista, Delcy Rodríguez confirmó que Maduro viajará "próximamente" a Rusia para la firma de un acuerdo bilateral junto con el mandatario ruso.
"En la lucha contra el fascismo y el neofascismo, nuestros pueblos se han unido para hacer realidad un futuro de cooperación respetuosa y solidaridad, que se profundizará con la firma de un acuerdo de alto nivel entre los presidentes Nicolás Maduro Moros y Vladímir Putin en Moscú próximamente", escribió Rodríguez en Telegram, citada por la agencia de noticias EFE.
"Un siglo y más allá (de relaciones) deberá ser nuestra consigna, (...) estamos ya listos para suscribir una relación estratégica de más alto nivel", aseguró la funcionaria, quien consideró que los vínculos entre Caracas y Moscú van a "dar más que hablar en el futuro".
Maduro destacó que el acuerdo de asociación estratégica que firmará este año con Moscú para elevar al "máximo nivel" la cooperación incluye áreas como economía, salud, educación, transporte, ciencia y tecnología, turismo y deporte, además de energía, que "se fortalece cada vez más ahora".
Posteriormente, Maduro agregó que, durante el encuentro virtual, revisaron la cooperación en materia de seguridad y defensa militar.
Putin fue uno de los primeros líderes en felicitar a Maduro por su controvertida reelección en los comicios del 28 de julio de 2024, mientras que numerosos gobiernos de Occidente se negaron a reconocer el proclamado triunfo del chavista, que se impuso sin mostrar las pruebas de su victoria, pese a las acusaciones de la oposición de tener evidencias de haberse impuesto ampliamente en el voto popular.
Maduro visitó Rusia el pasado octubre para participar, en la ciudad de Kazán, en la XVI Cumbre del grupo de economías emergentes BRICS, al que Caracas pretendió adherirse, pero Brasil se negó a aceptarlo como nuevo miembro asociado al bloque.
